Looking for my first jeep and this forum has been very helpful. I hope my questions etc. are not annoying overall.
I am looking at a CJ3b and would like opinions on this jeep at $8K AND CJ3b 's in general. Real owner opinions are a lot more informative than YouTube videos. The goal is a road trip capable jeep for light trail use, and long -slow- trips to camping spots in out of the way areas. Granted all day in a jeep might not be doable and I may regret this whole adventure. So I am trying to keep costs down for the first go around. Seems like more than a few of you own more than one jeep. So who knows?

Space and comfort with that particular Jeep is about as challenging as it gets. I would say go drive it some to see for yourself. Are you young with a good back ? It can be done. I have a CJ7 , it is definitely larger and more comfortable. I drove it 1500 miles to Moab last year.

Speed might be an issue in a 3B for a road trip. I think you’d be maxing out about 50mph or so.

It’s not a 3B, but it shows you can do it, lol. I think you’d appreciate the longer wheelbase of a 7. A 5 would give you more power and the option of more modern brakes.

Pewe and David are the best. Whenever anybody says that old Jeeps are not safe or practical to be a daily driver, I show them these videos. Motivates me to get off my butt and drive my CJ5 cross country. 😁 👍

I’m planning on getting my 7 out on some road trips next summer. I was figuring out what needed to be sorted out the end of this summer, now I’m fixing those things. Hopefully I’ll be ready by spring. I started fitting sheet metal today.

In the video they talk about 20 years ago driving that jeep from south California to Alaska.

These two and that video is what got me started on this search. Curse their immortal souls and mine for this.

Have you seen the one where he goes through Tucson and shows all the surplus M38A1s? Stored in the middle of the desert and probably have low mileage.
