Has anyone installed one of these? They are about 20.00 from Quadratech, 4WP, and 4WD. Some sites say no drilling while others say some drilling???

They say it won't work with a bug screen...but I'm thinking I could install the lock then cut out for the key hole in the bug screen and install a grommet (like the opening already there).

All opinions and experiences appreciated. Thanks.

As hard as it is to lift and secure the hood of a CJ, I can't imagine why you would need this.:D:laugh::chug:

I had a buddy that had one on his. He bought the Jeep that way so I can't say how it was installed.
He seemed satisfied that it would slow down anyone looking to get under the hood tho. And I guess thats about all you can expect!

I put one on mine in 5 minutes. No bug screen on my Jeep. My hope is that it will deter the casual person who might want to mess with my engine compartment (steal my smog bits). One would have to unscrew the hood hinges to get in -- if locked. Unless I am missing something, if it is not locked, then your main hood latch is not engaged -- and the hood will only be held down by the side latches. I'm not OK with that, so I always keep it locked.
