Nope its not a Scrambler. Jeff Scherb is pretty much done with his "Gaucho" truck rolling chassis. Hes going to be selling it for someone to finish. Its a really nice one off Cj. Id take it for X-mas. Pic attached

Gaucho (Jeff Scherb).webp

So, what is the post about? Selling or what?

Just sharing it with those who may not have seen it. Ive been watching it from the beginning and have always been fond of it. Id love to have it myself , unfortunately my $$ train has yet to arrive.

His objective from the beginning was to sell. Hes got some bodywork to do on the bed sides yet and then its ready for sale. Looks like the price will start somewhere around $6500 +. Hes really looking to trade it and some $$ for a Lj ( Tj unlimited ) for his next project.

where did the bed and frame come from??
is there a site covering the construction??

Holy thread from 2 and a half years ago!!

Nice guess but umm no. Modified Yj tub on a stretched frame with custom made bed and custom made fiberglass fenders. The link to the build thread is there. Its a 1 of kind custom.
CJ10a front tub on a waggy frame with similar mimi-truck bed is a popular swap and fairly easy. I guy I know has done 4...

Oh well, we are in it now. I may get heat, but I just don't get these. Why would anyone want to put a top on and turn a Jeep into a truck .

To each his own. Alot of people dont care for the idea but I liked it. The top is removeable like a Scrambler top.

Thanks for helping keep it at the top Coldair. LOL!

I really asked because I have seen lots of takes off on this, even the Brute Kit for the newer ones and they are expensive.

Not trying to down your buddys Jeep either, there is definitely a market. :chug:

I was just commenting on a way that I have seen similar CJ "trucks" made

I never met Jeff personally , I just watched the build thread and liked what I saw. He basically built his own version of the "Gaucho". Another guy bought it and continued the build on another site. Unfortunately for those interested theres been very little "build" from the new owner.

I think it's pretty cool. I'd like to have it.

X2..
very cool...
It would have been cool to have seen AMC/ Chrysler (whoever) build one of these. It could have crossed over into the pickup crowd and still kept the CJ customer base.

Heres the original built from a CJ5 from a dealership in California.
