cj5 cracked filler neck?

tank is full and has been weeping. Looked at the base of the filler neck and cleanned it up to find the leak. Cant see a crack but it gets wet again the second you wipe it dry. is this common?

sounds like a candidate for a new tank. but first, try the gas tank sealer putty. make sure the tank is at least half empty so it dosent leak. clean the filler neck real good, mabye sand around the neck, the smear liberally and let dry. then fill tank and see what happens
