It seems like I read somewhere that in the 70s there was a change in the door dimensions of the CJ5 . Is that correct? The reason I'm asking is I found someone on ebay with full soft doors that he doesn't remember what year they are from.

If there is a difference how can you identify the year they would fit?

The change was in the angle of the windshield starting with the '76 model. The windshields on CJs from '76 on are angled back more than earlier years and therefore the CJ5 doors are different.

OK, thanks. I wonder if it would be worth it to try and modify the soft doors to fit the new angle? I can imagine the frame would have to be altered to fit the correct angle and the window probably stretched to accommodate the slack.

It would a pita to modify either styles to fit the oppisite style.. Let me save you a headache.

I have 3 sets of doors that will fit your 76 and newer CJ5 . 2 sets of nutmeg bestop whitco style soft doors and a black set of hard doors from a fiberglass top. All in good shape. I am in St louis mo 2 hours from you if you want to save a headache email me. dsinks@att.net
