1976 Jeep Cj5, AMC 360 V8, T-176 transmission, NP 231 transfer case with Jb Conversions Super SYE, 44 axles front and rear.
2006 Buell Firebolt XB9R.
2001 Ford Taurus.
CJ7 and wrangler tops wont fit a CJ5 however cj7 and wrangler tops will interchange on each other the cj5 is shorter than the 7
 
thanks man, not what i wanted to know but i figured that much. lol
its on craiges list for $75 without rear hatch, would it be worth it to buy and shorten?? or is that stupid

If you are good with Fiberglass, it could probably be done. I'm not sure if anyone else has done it on here, but I am sure someone has. I have a feeling it would be a lot of work, though, making sure the doors are all correct, plus the rear gate.

A couple things to mention about the differences between the CJ7 and wrangler, the body mounts are different, as well as the windshields, I believe. The rear gates on the hard tops are also different. There is a sticky thread here http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f7/differences-between-cj7-yj-hardtop-3539/ about it.
 
I shortened a CJ7 top to make a half cab so it's possible however like mentioned above windshield and body mounting will be the issue.
