CJ5 Trans problems after overdrive install
Hello Everyone
First time poster here. I got a pretty nice (restored) 56 CJ5 a few months ago. I did not do the restoration and don't really know all that much about the Jeep except that it is very nicely built and appears to have a stock 4 cyl driveline with a 3 spd, 2 lever Transfer Case . As I said, it was bone stock when I got it so I wanted to put an Overdrive in it. I bought a new one from Herm the Overdrive guy and installed it. Unfortunately I have some Transmission issues after the install that were not there before. I talked to Herm and he seems to think that the symptoms I am experiencing are a coincidence and not related to an error I made during installation or a fault with the Overdrive unit. I wanted to ask for other opinions.
The symptoms,
The issues I am having are intermittent, they don't happen all of the time. The first thing I noticed is that sometimes I can not downshift into 2nd and it grinds a bit going up into 2nd. When I say can't downshift, I mean that there is no place to move the shift lever to, it is as though the slot for 2nd gear is gone, or much smaller. I have noticed that this problem is worse after I have been engine braking. This does not happen all the time though.
I also sometimes hear a troubling sound from what I assume is the Transmission . I put a video on youtube of it so you can hear it.

The sound starts when I go into a gear but will not go away even if I take it out of that gear. I have to remove my foot from the clutch pedal in order to stop the noise. (throughout bearing?). This noise does not happen all the time either, just once in a while.
Background
I only got to drive the Jeep once (for three hours the day I bought it) before I put the Overdrive in. The Transmission was fine, it drove great, I was told that it has less that 1000 miles on a total rebuild of the Transmission , and motor. I did notice that it popped out of 2nd on deceleration once though. I have had this before on other vehicles and figure all is not perfect in the Transmission as I was told. It also pops out of 2nd now about as often as it did it before the Overdrive install. I am not sure that the popping out of gear is related to the noise and/or the grinding (I know they sound like 2nd gear synchro problems but it shifted beautifully before the Overdrive and it not make any noise).
Something is different after the Overdrive install. As you probably know, you don't touch the Transmission or clutch when installing an Overdrive . It bolted right up to the output gear, there did not seem to be any fit issues at all during installation. I believe that everything was assembled and torqued properly and that the Overdrive is getting oil.
Any ideas?
