Cj5 tub replacement

Have a 1978 CJ5 would like to replace tub. Have access to a tub thru Internet, so have not seen except pictures. Question is, in the pics I can see that it has a tool box under pass seat and the opening for gas tank by drivers seat. Would this tub work as replacement for 78 or is it to old (different series)

I believe the tub you describe would be about 4" shorter than your'78. AMC extended the engine compartment to fit their engines. You can see the difference in the back part of the front fenders.

Maybe I didn't word it very well, but I think we're saying the same thing.

Oh that's a good thing then, the tub I should be able to use and the fenders/hood will just have to be from a newer (78ish) jeep. Fenders and hoods in decent shape are alot easier to find, thanks. Tub is a couple hours drive away will check out early next week

...and the defroster holes in the windshield frame.

That yellow tub has a piece of sheet metal covering the entire side including part of the fender (which appears to be a short fender).
