CJ7 and OTC 8031 ball joint tool

I am curious if anyone out there has used the OTC 8031 Ball Joint Tool Truck/Jeep to remove/install ball joints on a Dana 30 for a CJ7 ?
I have the tool (very nice set btw!) but had a hell of a time figuring out what to use to remove the lower ball joints.
Inside the case there is an adapter chart and a reference guide with only goes back to '87. The upper ball joints came out relatively easy with the recommended adapter. The lower, however, I could not get the "C" clamp in position so had to improvise.
I was able to bust the rust seal with the tool and then held the knuckle in my hand while using a ball peen hammer to drive the lowers out.
Obviously I have to reinstall but the knuckles will have been painted and I don't want to beat the
out of my new paint job, if I can help it, so I thought I would ask if someone has come before and can recommed the correct adapters from the kit.
