I understand the bolts in my door hinges (see pictures) are there to protect the doors from theft. Do these bolts simply replace the standard hinge pins? Are they just long bolts or are they special order products? I want to take the doors off and hoping their rusty nature doesn’t present with a problem.

Threaded shaft, easy to find at any good hardware store.
Sometimes, the hinge pin is long enough to thread for a nut.

No-Owner modification, as far as I have ever seen.
Not hard to do.....

Most YJ's came with that feature. Just leave the nut off if you want to take the doors on and off. If your wanting to maintain the possibility that one of your doors could be removed quickly and be stolen, find a SS nut and use some grease or anti-seize on the threads after you clean them up.

Oh...I thought that was a bolt…but it is a threaded rod with a nut on it! That makes sense as the nut is missing on one side; I thought the head of the bolt was stripped off. So, with the nut off, the door should slide up, and off the hinge….correct?

Correct-;)
