While I was at FN Jeep today the guy was ripping out the manual Transmission set-up from his 86CJ7 and replacing it with an automatic, said he would even buy my AUTO stuff off me... I would prefer the manual... anyone have any words of advice on how much of a pain in the <-BAD WORD-> this may or may not be? I dont picture it being too rediculous

since you have the same years of CJ, it will be a direct swap...
I've done a few of these kind of swaps and its pretty straight foreward. Unbolt from one rig, put it in the other, tighten...:)

What Transfer Case ?

You would most likely need the correct drives shafts, the floor board openings and boots....

Other then that? I think you would be gold! :)

I know it has the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l like mine, and the Dana 300 like mine, just the tranny being different, he said i shouldnt have any issues with any of the driveline or anything like that... I have never converted a vehicle from one to the other, but think a CJ would be about as simple as it gets!

Yep - MyLittle had it right... Just bet the bolt on parts and the go! :)

Probably want to trade drive shafts also seeing how the manny should be longer than the auto. whoops like CJ and little had said..

How hard is it to add the clutch pedal assembly? Are the brackets there or do new ones have to be welded on?
