'86 CJ7
Hello,

Recently bought an '86 CJ7 Laredo with the chrome grill. It came with some rims that had 12 small circles which I don't feel match the original look of how the CJ7 came out. I'm looking to put on the classic chrome 8 Spoke wheels similar to the attached images. Looking online, the site I keep coming back to is the one on Jegs.com U.S. Wheel 75 Series Chrome 8 Spoke Wheels | JEGS and on summitracing.com http://bit.ly/2vSueOi The "US Wheel 75 Series Chrome 8-Spoke Wheel" seems to be its official name. Just wanted to make sure this should be the "classic CJ7 " rim I should be looking at. Are there other sites which have a rim that might be more authentic looking?
I believe there are 15" rims on there now but I was going get them in 16" so I think I need the 16" x 7" with a bolt circle of 5 on 5.50"
Please let me know if there is a better, more authentic rim, I should be getting (other than buying originals off of ebay).

Second part - any suggestions on tires. Would the classic look be putting Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac or BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires on with white lettering facing outward? Some online look pretty sweet. Thoughts?

Thank you.
Shawn

I have the original white with BF Goodrich M/S facing inward, but the chrome does look good with the letters out. Mine originally came with Goodyears but I didn't like them

It's a personal preference I believe

Those wheels won't look like the originals. The originals had a curved edge to them, and those don't. Also, anything other than 15's will be noticeably different. Those wheels are fine, but they are not original looking. Original wheels are out there. I have 15x8 original wagons.

This is probably a 15x7 original jeep wheel. The little holes indicate 15x7. Mine don't have those, and are 15x8, which I believe came on renegades. The D window holes have curved/rounded edges.

Thank you. I just want to make sure I find what people would consider the closest to authentic looking rims. Those on the sites I mentioned look pretty close but if other have found some that look a bit better or are cheaper...i would love to hear.
Thanks!

Okay...well, it will be impossible and a small fortune to find decent original rims for the CJ7 but if I wanted to get close, these are the 2 options I am finding.

Please let me know your thoughts of both. Which would be closest?

I'm starting to like these.
Cragar Nomad II
Cragar 3155755: Nomad II Wheel Size: 15" x 7" | JEGS

Then, there is the U.S. Wheel 75-5755 I pointed out earlier.

I would like to order soon, please let me know.
Thanks.

ps...there are these but I can't seem to find them anywhere.
Pro Comp Rock Crawler 83 Series.
Pro Comp Rock Crawler 83 Series - Chrome Steel Wheel 15x10 5x5.5 3.75" Backspaci - 4Mudders

They all look about the same to me. I would go with the Cragar because of the name.

They are all probably the closest you will get to OEM.
There will be a problem if you want to use OEM center caps.
You will have to drill the holes that are used to bolt the center caps to the wheel.

Call Endangered Species Jeep in Holyoke, MA. They may have some OEM wheels laying around.

Wheels are a personal choice. I don't really care for either of the wheels you mentioned, but its not my jeep. If I was going to buy wheels, I probably go away from an OEM looking wheel.

These American Racing wheels were on mine at one point, and I thought they looked kind of cool.

Either way, I think your Jeep will look good with any choice.

You had better confirm the center hole will fit over the front hub.;)
The Cragar I know does. The 2 others-Wouldn't bet on it.
