I just put a set of thoes in my heep. I haven't driven it much but I can tell the 4 point harness is going to be a PITA. I see a camlock replacing them pretty soon.
You need to have seats with the slots for the belts to use a harness like that.

Those do look pretty sick!

I just removed the 5-pt and went back to a typical 3pt retractable. These harnesses do exactly as designed and your movement is Limited to nothing. The lack of movement created by a 4-pt and 5-pt harness is a pita when you are wheeling and need to look around (obstacles, line selection, tire placement)

In competition, you have a spotter so you dont need to have the mobility to see anything

For casual wheeling, trail riding, etc....they are a hinderance.

But safety is safety. If you feel you need them, by all means, go for it.

I was discussing some ideas on seat belt changes with my wife. We have an indirect connection to a teenager who died in a CJ while wearing a 4 or 5 point harness and was hit by a drunk driver on the street. From what I know, he died of organ damage due to the harness -- so I suspect he may not have had them mounted high in the back, behind the shoulders (as mentioned above).

My wife asked about the liability of changing seat belt mounting points. If I sold the Jeep and had changed the mounting or installed seat belts incorrectly, would there be liability if a future owner was hurt or killed? I would think there might be. Has anyone heard of something like this happening with seat belts or other mods? She thought it would be wise to have these kinds of changes professionally done, partly to share any potential liability.
