To get my 84 4 cylinder running I needed to replace the master cyl on the clutch. well as usual one thing led to another and the bleed screw on the slave froze up and I bought a replacement slave as well.

I have 2 problems.

1 the connecting hydraulic line broke and a replacement is not easy to source. I am guessing that a braided hydraulic line would suffice but where to get it an what length?

2 the slave cyl is stuck in the housing with the rod extended (I think) and I cant seem to get it off.

Ideas?

Getting a new hose should be easy enough. There are numerous industrial hardware outfits that will make a custom hose if sourcing one from a Jeep parts supplier can't be done. As for your other problem, good luck.

ok cool, well tell me this at least if you can.

If the rod on the slave is extended. would that be a reason that after the bolts were off it would resist pulling off the housing?

If the bolts are off, the slave should pretty much fall off.

Since you have a new slave, you should be able to see that there is nothing there that would cause the old one to hang up in the mount. It could be that the aluminum spacer has just married itself to the slave and the bell housing.

A few small taps with a rubber mallet should get it free. That spacer is probably not available anywhere so be careful of that.

As mentioned earlier, a hose/hydraulic store should be able to fix you up with the hose and line if you can't find a new one. Just take the old one with you.
