1985 CJ7 Renegade 258 inline 6. (All currently stock... working to change that one piece at a time).
I just discovered a very small (1.5") crack between two of my freeze plugs on my block... am I screwed?

is it leaking??

I have seen old school repairs for cracked heads I see no reason that it wouldnt work for a block

It is leaking. I had come across a technique where you grind the crack into a groove then fill it with JB Weld. Anyone here of that before? I know its not a long term solution, but I just need it to make it til winter when I can get a new/rebuilt long block to drop into it.

:)No easy answer to your question......since all cracks potentially have a different solution to fix........If you have a good mechanic near you that can see what you have first hand , I would go get his / her opinion first?

A stop leak from the inside would be also something to consider.

Sounds good, I'll look into some local machine shops. CJ, will this be a permanent fix or is it only something to get me to where I have time/extra cash to do an engine replacement?

If you can get it clean enough you could nickle weld or maybe ever suck locktite in by capillary action. getting that old cast clean may be impossible.

does it actually go into the freezplug hole?

I dont think it goes quite all the way to the freeze plugs. It looks like its about 1/2" away on either side.
