Guys this is something that I will eventually document here but not for a while. I am just spitting this out into the world to see if I can get opinions....
There are a bunch of universal cc setups out there but they seem to run 100 for one that just adds buttons to the dash to 200+ for more stock looking ones.... So Eff that.
I recently fixed the CC in my GW(the PO cut the wires in the control lever for some reason only known to him and god) and I discovered that the CC in the GW is much like the Ac in Gws and cj/yjs in that it is an independent system that is basically bolted on. With that in mind I should be able to find a part out GW (if you know where one is let me know) and get the cruise stuff out of it and easily install it in the CJ. The biggest thing I have going for me in this is that I have a VSS in my cj that is an 8 pulse and as fate would have it the GW cruise control vss in the cable is and 8 pulse so it should be a matter of bolting the actuator to the fender drilling a small hole in the firewall to feed the harness through and splicing into the brake switch and the vss.... There may be an issue with the fact that the GW has a vac line that runs to a switch on the brake pedal under the brake light switch but i maybe able to wiggle around that if it will save me 100+ bucks. Only other issue is that the cj turn signal lever uses a screw to install where as the GW one just kinda sticks into the the column but I believe that the hn3 style gm cc levers which mount the same as the cj ones have the correct electrical connector to plug into the GW CC harness but I will have to get a hold of one to monkey around with it.
The best part about this is that if I pull it off the control box is stamped amc so it should look pretty stock.
Did any Cjs ever have CC? I am sure the Yjs saw it but have never seen a reference to such a cj.... Thoughts are appreciated thanks!
HEre are some shots of the CC stuff.
