So has anyone considered the zj 4.0 alternator instead of the cs144?

For starters it's much more easily had for a lower cost and it has a stock output of 130ish amps. (his is the larger case alty)

Before I waste my time going to the u-pullit and pulling one for test fitting o. My 360 in my wag I just wanted to make sure if this had been visited before and there was a reason why it seems people only use the cs144

They use the CS144 because the mounts are similar and it's larger than the CS130.
Check out early 90's caddies for the CS144 alt, they are cheap and usually in great shape
from a Junk Yard.
The one on a ZJ uses a different mounting style.

I just bought a stock 94 amp replacement. I got a CS 144 but was unable to get the pulley off so I gave up on it and I guess I will just throw the alternator up on fleebay.

you have to pretty much cut the pulley off of some models. A die grinder and a chisel are about as good as anything.

No biggie i think a stock 94 amp will be sufficient

To get the pully off either hit up a local shop.
Or as I did gently tap around the pulley to get it to unseat off
the tapered bushing. Once it does it basically falls off.
