I saw a soa jeep today and it's just too cool. I'm thinking of doing this when I change out these differentials. yea/nea? My jeep is a putt around on the weekend. I doubt I'll ever do any fourwheeling. I did all that in my younger years. I hate tearing up stuff now.

If you've got the cash to do it right (high steer knuckles), why not. A set of OME springs would make for a nice smooth ride.

Ole dog I really trust your opinion. What do you mean by high steer knuckles? Also, what do you do on the right front where the spring is suppose to sit on the housing?

I googled high steer knuckles. Why don't I have axcess to a mill???? Geez! I have a drop arm? Will that be enough?

well i have a 4" I think I'll stick with that. It sure is alot of trouble

I've been having a lot of trouble with the site the last couple days.
I was going to tell you that the drop arm would probably not work well, and cause bump steer if it worked at all.
Kinda late now I guess.:D

Sorry about that - having server problems.
Thats ok I'm just glad to hear it's not on my end, last night I was about to throw my computer out the window :D

My 84 CJ is SOA, but I bought it that way. The previous owner was way more into wheeln' off road than I am and might have had his reasons. There's also a two stick Transfer Case in there that I will probably never use myself. Don't get me wrong. I love to take a trail and go off road plenty, but snapping axles on the weekends isn't my idea of a swell time. All that said, so far I have had no issues with my SOA (knock on wood). All I can do is hope that the previous owner knew what he was doing and did the conversion correctly. He was a HUMMER mechanic in the Army for 20 years, so I have faith.

SOA's are ok if you do the high steer as stated. If your going with 44's I think 76-79's came with passenger side high steer knuckle drilled and tapped on the passenger side and flat top knuckle on the drivers. you can easily install the passenger side with the aproriate arm and just leay the tie rod attached in the stock position. My question is were do you plan on digging up some CJ width 44's? or d oyou plan on hacking up some waggy axles? or Outboard them. To me the SOA and high steer is a much easier fix then fitting the 44's to the jeep.
