Dimmer switch

Installed a painless kit and am having trouble installing the dimmer switch. Where does the dimmer plug in to? Does it plug into the headlight switch somehow? On a lighter note, had the cj out on her maiden run. 4 hours, no issues other than having to get home before dark!!

should be a plug that runs down to the toe board under the e-brake pedal, that short harness will tie into the headlight switch.

The way it works is the light switch on the dash turns on the headlights. This turns on 12 volts and sends it in a red and white wire to the dimmer switch on the floor. Depending on the position of this switch, it may send the voltage back out a gray wire to the low beam lights. Or if the dimmer switch is activated the switch may send the 12 volts out a gray and white wire to the high beams.
These wire colors are for my stock CJ. I would hope the Painless colors are the same.
