I have a jeep CJ5 with a ford 302 that is being rebuild, i need a distributor and need to know the pros and cons of the Msd Pro-Billet Ready-to-Run vs pro billet with the ignition box ...is a trail rig...thanks
Trail rigs you want simple. having extra wires and components isn't simple.
I personally wouldn't run any ignition that needed a UPS guy to bring me replacement parts. If the chains in your area don't carry all of your replacement parts, don't get it.
It appears the ready to run is some sort of remote coil HEI clone. Looks OK, but I'd make sure of the parts availability.
Any trouble you may have in the future with a complex system, will have you asking on forums, instead of looking in a service manual or googling from a smartphone.
Not a fun place to be when you're on the trail, with no spark.
thanks bondo for the feedback...i am keeping my old distributor for spare but not quite sure which distributor to get ...right now iam leaning towards msd pro billet ready to run but i havent heard any feedback from people that runs this distributor
