Pretty cool finding the old CJ-10. :D I like the bed they made for it. Hope you can find out some details. :chug:

The CJ-10A' s are cool, it's got a SD33 non-turbo Nissan I6 diesel, a Dana 70 rear axle and I think a TF727 Transmission . There is a Transfer Case , don't remember what kind, There but the front output is removed and its locked in low range, I think. They were primarily sold to the US Air Force and used as aircraft tow tugs. I've found some info on other Jeep sites about them, it's typically not a cheap endeavor to make one 4x4 or into a truck, unless you have several donor vehicle to graft together, at least that's the gist that I get from reading.

Don't let me dissuade you though if the gears are already turning in your head.

Ok, I didn't actually study the pics you posted. It looks like someone did a lot of that work for you. I would definitely go back.

I have a few people on it now
a retired CT from the navy as well as a TJ owner
and a mechanic
both of them have seen this and have wanted to stop
now we really want to stop in when we see another vehicle there

there is that plate on the dash.....roughly 4X5....and state most of the info of it but the sun blocked me from taking a pic

i hope to drop by this week to take more pics and hopefully talk to someone

i may not have the funds for this so I hope that someone here........

Elwood, that jeep is too small to tow aircraft. They used them in the AGE shop to tow AGE equpment. They had a top speed of about 15 MPH. Not saying it wouldn't tow a very small aircraft though.

AGE= aerospace ground support equipment

There is no air power without ground power. I was an AGE mechanic in the Air Force (388th fighter squadren, 4th CAT) and I used to drive one of these for my tow rig. I actually used to pop my head under the dash when I had wiring issues with my CJ5 . I enjoed driving it but in the winter the heat sucked so I preferred the Dodge with the Cummins turbo 6 cylinder. These were strong enough to tow the F-16 planes around and we have done it.

And that's why I'm in the Navy, not in the Air Force :patriot:

i swung back by and no one answered the door......again
but this time left my number

And if you squint, stand on one foot while holding your tongue just right, you can tell........................that my camera on the phone aint worth a damn

Im just an old Jarhead .......and I did look around the yard...........NO F-16s that i could tell :D

Wonder how much work they've done to it.
And it will tow an F-16 ask me how I know, LOL.

I've seen a few fixed up and they look cool.
I wouldn't mind owning it if most of the hard work was done, I just don't have space at this point to do anything major.
