I need some help her guys. I've recently purchased a '73 CJ5 and I'm quickly finding out that the PO is a complete knucklehead....of course. Previously, the red wire from the distributor was loosely connected to one or both wires coming from the main wiring bundle (i.e. rats nest) but I'm not sure which one or both. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To run the dizzy all you need is one ignition switched pos wire this can be taken off of the solenoid on the fender, if your wiring harness is a hack job. Im not 100% sure on those two wires you have there. But if it were mine id cap those and pull it from the solenoid.

That would make sense. There isn't a wire going from the solenoid to the distro and I don't have a tach so that's not it either. Which part of the solenoid do I attach it to?

That wire need 12 volts only when the jeep is running. Make sure you aren't just running 12 volts from the battery.

I now have the hot wire running from the relay to the dizzy like in the DUI version of 73CJ's diagram. Still haven't figured out what the other wires go to but I now know they have to be connected together to get any ignition. Thanks for all your help guys. :chug:
