Had 2 units go south in my jeep and wondering if I have the wiring right. Is there supposed to be a resistor somewhere between the battery voltage and the spark box?

I have been buying the 12a199 from o'reilly's and maybe they are just junky?
I have been thinking of changing over to the GM HEI module.
Suggestions?

I would buy a msd street fire or summit racing box. I have work in part stores for 11 years and the china modules never hold up on our jeeps.

Got rid of mine and went HEI much cleaner look, according to my 82/83 manual the 2 pin connector off the ECM has the 13A red w/TR-10 it has a 1.35ohm resistor spliced in going to the hot side of the coil

Checked the wiring diagram I had posted on the wall of my garage...duh.
It has a resistor on the coil between the Duraspark and and the coil. But I believe it is resistor wire, not the old time dodge style. I had to re-wire jeep when I bought it as wiring harness was fried.

I think I will covert to GM HEI I am pretty sure they want the full 12 volts...

Yes you are correct it is a wire not the Dodge style Ballast, Autozone and Orielly"s sells replacement resistor wires in their help me section
