Hey guys,
I'm in the middle of upgrading to a Holley Sniper EFI for my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l CJ5 . My question is where should I run the output hose from the charcoal filter?

The EFI carb has 3 vacuum ports. I am connecting one to the HEI distributor advance, and one to the PCV valve. I have three ports on the valve cover. One for the PCV valve, one for a breather, and one more.

Should I run the output line from the charcoal filter into the third port on the valve cover?

Thanks,
Justin

The charcoal canister output should run to your fuel tank IIRC

Sorry, I should have put more details. I have the line that runs to the tank already connected. My understanding is that the expansion gas from the tank runs to the filter, and then it goes from there back into the engine, so you don't smell fumes. Thats why I called it the output. I should have also mentioned that I replaced the charcoal filter some time ago because my old one was trashed. The replacement I found only has two ports, unlike the 4 ports on the original.

Pretty sure you can run to any vacuum port. I believe mine (same EFI setup) is on a manifold port somewhere.

Thanks - I have one port left on the carb. I'll try that. I was worried that it would cause a decrease in vacuum. How do you like yours so far? I just fired it up for the first time. It sounds great, but I haven't had a chance to drive it yet.

Not sure I'd put it there. You have one large one for brakes, then you have one above and one below the throttle plane. One of those will go to your distributor, the other should be capped. Using them both will affect performance and maybe even in an inconsistent manner - which now will affect AFR calculations on the Sniper.

Put this one on the manifold somewhere or T it into another one, doesn't matter.

I think I love my Sniper. I've had issues, some were repairable by me, one was not. It hasn't been trouble-free, but it starts well, runs great and doesn't vapor lock. It's also had a couple of injectors go offline due to cheap/silly plugs they use on them (user fixable). The TPS has been replaced once as well.
