EGR\Emissions Question

Hi,
Running my AMC 304 with EGR valve, no longer has smog pump or a carbon cannister on it...has stock motorcraft carb. Do I need to run vacuum line from EGR straight to the port on the right side of the carb...or do I need to replace the thermal vacuum switch that was on the thermostat housing and run the vacuum lines thru it so it is thermally controlled? The switch on the thermostat housing was a 2 port switch.
There is also a 3 port thermal switch screwed into the intake but I believe this is for controlling the distributor vacuum and will be supplied by the front port on the carb.
thanks for any input.
Ed
