Recently got me a 84 CJ7 that has been converted to the AMC 304 v8 and it has an electric fuel pump on a switch with pressure regulator under the hood. I would rather do away with the process of turning on and off the fuel pump is there a way to set it up with a return line to the tank and maybe a pressure switch?

thanks for any help

Your gas tank is set up for a return line located on top of the fuel tank next to the fuel outlet fitting. I had had a setup once where the fuel pump voltage line came from the ignition switch and would turn on and off with the key. Also there was a pressure switch that worked off oil pressure that would work as a saftey switch in case of a rollover. After a while the whole thing got to be a pain and I just went back to the mechanical pump and that system was a lot better. I really don't think there is any advantage to a electric pump with a carb'ed engine. Some guys put them in as their fuel will evaporate out of the carb float bowl after sitting awhile.

Nice to be able to turn the pump off, in case of an accident. ;)

Have a switch for the fuel pump also serves as a good anti-theft device:
