Some how I killed my head lights after changing the starter solenoid, never touched anything else, naturally the jeep didn't start and now I am somewhat lost. Any thoughts?

Had the battery disconnected ?

Obvious question, I know - but did you accidentally touch a positive wire to ground and pop a fuse? Do you still have other power (dash lights, tail lights, ignition)? If you still have stock wiring, there is a fusible link in the red positive wire on the battery side of the solenoid. That wire is the main power wire going into the firewall connector to bring power into the fuse block under the dash. If you have other power then that is still good. If everything is now dead, then that is a starting point to look.

no that didnt happen, will check that fusible link when i get back to wrenching mode

About 35 years ago I was going down the road and mine just died. Nothing. Just dead. My buddy ( master mechanic ) and I spent hours and evenings looking for something. Finally decided to bring to the dealer. 8 hr diagnosis. Said ground to fusible link. Only time it ever went to the dealer.

Seems my troubles are from the colum/ignition switch to hei and so far havent found the source, I may bypass the whole damm mess and have a secondary ignition switch.

Im thinking its cured, from power to dash mount switch, to hei fused in line from power source. 30 mins idle test and 20 road miles. Its was nice driving the jeep and not cursing it for a change.
