I am almost done on my project, I can do a lot of mechanical but when it comes to electrical I'm am worhtless. My problems are: when I turn the key to start the fuse for the heather blows off even if the blower or the heather switcht are disconected. The wipers comes on as soon as I turn the ignition switch on and to stop them I have to turn the wiper switch on and off. The side park light on the front fenders flashes when I turn the flashers on and it flashes very slowly. I installed a psuh button for the horn and when I instal it in the stainless dash, it blows the fuse that I put on the line, when it's not on the dash it works fine. I know it's electrical but where to start looking?: my key switch? my ignition plug in on the treering column? missing ground somewhere?
Any help will be apreciated.
thank you

Just a thought... it sounds like you have a positive cross short... That is: multiple wires are cross-connected not involving a ground circuit. This would provide power to multiple peripherals, albeit less amperage, due to the extra parallel legs. Since the Jeep's chassis wiring diagram isn't so scary - I'd pull it completely and unwrap it. Get a good diagram (probably from a chilton's or some other manual) and make sure all the wires are in good shape. Then use electrical tape to rewind it. Use some masking tape and a pen on removal. LABELING IS YOUR FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jeep used duct tape from the factory to cover the multi-wire junction points. I'm thinking the tape may have worn and perhaps two of these are touching. As for your horn, what I'm guessing is that you installed a stainless steel dash and from then on, the horn button blows a fuse. If this is the case, it sounds like you've devoted too much power to the horn button. There's a slim chance the new dash is providing a better ground. I'd wire the new horn straight from the old horn's circuit (it's below the steering column facing the passenger side of the car). If you can remove the existing wire that feeds into the column from the plastic retainer, you can put a connector onto a new wire, add it to the connector in the original place and not have to do any cutting. Just secure the unused (original) horn wire with a zip tie behind the dash.

Hope some of this helps!!!!

Check this out! I hi-lited your issue points...

the circle is where all three areas cross... I'd look here...
you can probably access it by separating the two halves of the fuse block and just inspecting the back of it. Maybe a wire's insulation has come loose and exposed wires are touching things... who knows!? :D

bon chance mon amie!

Thank you my friend. I will do my home work and start by checking what you Hi-lited and if not I'll start from the fuse box and check all wires. I'll let you know in a later post. Thanks again.

I found the problem, as for my flashers, a bad ground. The worst problem was the heater and after taking the dash apart again, re-done the wiring, following all wires with the diagram I started to put everything back together and at every steps turning the key on to see if the fuse was holding like that if I did something wrong I'll know right away. So I'm almost done when I heard the fuse blowing again. What happen is I forgot the ignition key at on and the voltage gage touched the floor of the jeep and the heater fuse blew. It wasw a fluke, a luck to forget the key at on and the gage grounding. After a closer look I found out that I mixed the black ground wire and the yellow life wire at the back of the gage. If you look behind the fuse box you see that the yellow wire is connected with the heater fuse. Also for the horn button on the dash, because of those crossed wires my dash was life and not grounded.
All this to say that elelctrical problems seem to always be a small problem but take a lot of time and work to find it.
Man that is a long explaination but we frenchmen like to explain a lot.
Thanks again PHYRPHOENIX for the diagram and help.

:chug: sweet I saved the diagram to my computer Thanks
