Still having problems with 2100 carb,1979 CJ7 258ci,hard starting, while driving stalls when turning right with idle set at 1000rpms, tuning left ok, this is driving me nuts, running out of ideas, ignition good, plugs clean tan in color, fuel ok, clean, dist good, timing 9-10 deg, help

Look for vacuum leakage at the carb's base.
Very soapy water in a spray bottle, will find the leak.

Sounds like your running good vacuum at 22"
I would remove the air horn and measure float height.
Post up your findings.

Will measure float height in am, engine hard to start today, about 3 belches thru carb, start fluid, finally started, idled fine, drove jeep no stall, good acceleration, engine idle at 900 rpms, vac guage at 21.5hg, timing at 8-9btdc, used soapy water at carb base and did see a very small amount of bubbling. Have 1/32 gasket on intake manifold then a spacer gasket about 1/4 then another 1/32 gasket all without gasket sealer. Thanks Posi, LG, for your input

Are you still run'n the OEM type fuel filter with the return line on it?
If YES-make sure that return line is at the 12 o'clock position and that the filter is not below the carb's height.

Yes, fuel return line is 12 o'clock, filter is above bowl height. Manual choke on 2100 carb. Power valve bad? Will try and take photos in am. Thanks

Don't know the 2100-I have to run the OEM carb to pass SMOG in Ca.

Posi, right on with float adj., while turning right jets uncovered with fuel due to float set to low , readjusted to provide more fuel in the bowl, runs great when turning right. Thanks to all for the input, back to keeping!

I ditched that fuel return line years ago. Just ran a line to the 600 Holley direct from the pump. No issues since 1997.

Thanks for the tip slomo, appears my 2100 motorcraft float level was set to low allowing jets to starve for fuel when making right hand turns, don't know for sure as to stock fuel pump pressure and it that pressure is to great for the 2100. May install pressure guage for info. Thanks again!
