Engine won't start, Coil I think

AMC 360 with points. Just recently rewired the ignition because the PO had it ran to the ACC position in the ignition switch, not the IGN terminal. It started up like a champ the couple of times I tried to start it. It's been in my garage with the dash off while I rewired some other oddities. Now it won't start. Getting 12V at the coil, and the coil primary resistance is 1.0 ohms, secondary is 8.97K ohms.
To me that says the coil is good. But no spark getting to the plugs. So I "bench" tested the coil. Hooked up all wires as normal, but took a spark plug wire out the top of the coil and grounded the plug to the block. Took the 12V power from the ignition switch on and off and still no spark. To me that says the coil is bad.
So did I test it correctly? Also my coil has what looks like a condenser on the outside of it, but no wires are connected. It's always been this way and started up fine before. So why no spark?
