Gonna ramble a bit here.
First, a little background. My bride of 49 years is, to the say the least, a worrier, especially when on the road. I can't begin to count the number of times I've heard that sudden, sharp intake of breath, which can't be ignored, when she perceived some imminent threat. Freeways - forget it - it's white knuckle all the way. Back roads - to narrow, to many curves, WATCH OUT FOR THAT DOG. Now it's not that I'm a bad driver (one accident in more than 50 years, and I was stopped when I got hit), it's just that she is always super cautious.
Anyway, when I got the CJ (with her blessing), I figured this was gonna be tough on her. Well, her old car broke down, and after a few trial runs around the neighborhood, she decided she would drive the Jeep on her weekly run to the grocery, WalMart, etc., cause it's automatic and the pickup is 5 speed stick. Now I'm nervous. Well, she did fine, and I detected a little pride when her friends made comments like - "Wouldn't have thought you were a Jeep girl".
Well, today we took a day long outing through the Big Thicket. Nothing extreme, just back country dirt/sand roads that could have been driven with just about anything. On the way home, she says, "You know, that was fun, but it would have been better if there was more challenge to the driving instead of just rough roads".
I think I got a winner here.
