Ive asked this on a couple other forums and trolled around the web but i have fenderwell exhuast dumped out before the rears in my 64, i bought a 3.8 and swapped it in and got headers with it instead of regualr manifolds with cherry bombs but its just to loud, has anyone run this but ran it all the way back or would getting manifolds be the best option ,thoughts? pictures?

One point to consider with headers is that they generate a lot of underhood heat that some guys aren't comfortable with. A cooler carb intake will perform better also.

Not exactly sure what you are asking. Is it possible to run duel or a single pipe all the way to the rear, well yes it is. Is it possible to run cherry bomb mufflers with the exhaust running to the rear, yes it is. Is it possible to remove the generally offensive cherry bomb mufflers, replace them with something decent and run the exhaust to the rear, yes you can. Is it always better to dump your exhaust to the rear of the vehicle, in my opinion yes it is. If for no other reason you don't smell like exhaust fumes. For other reasons exhaust gas will look for a low pressure area to hide, the area behind your windshield is a low pressure area and exhaust gasses will gather there. It won't kill you, but it can make you sick.

One more thing. I suggest you dump the exhaust out the side, behind the rear wheel as out the rear makes for terrible exhaust smells in the cab. I have the v6 and I got rid of the short glass packs in favor of two Turbos. Still a bit loud but I'm getting used to it.

Maybe a compromise and dump the exhaust at the rear corners. Stich is right, sometimes dumping the exhaust to the rear is not good, but oddly enough at other times it isn't a problem. What makes the differance between good and bad is beyond me. Maybe turning the tips down is better.

sorry my first post was confusing, what im really trying to ask is that since im running exhaust outside the frame, i would like to run it all the way back like you guys are saying but im wondering how or if anyone has, the routing of the pipe to the back, sorry to many thoughts trying to put in one post :D

Most exhaust shops have their own pipe benders so they can make most anything work. What would you gain by saving the original pipe though. Are your hearers outside the frame? That could be a problem to reroute inside the frame.
