Hey everyone, brand new Jeep owner here... here's mine if you're interested..

Anyways.

Looking to do an exhaust system upgrade. I've looked online and haven't had much luck finding aftermarket kits, mostly OEM replacements. I did a custom catback on my 5.0 Mustang when I took a welding class a few years back, and it came out really good. (Did the bending, cutting, welding, etc).

What are you guys' opinions on exhaust as far as upgrading goes on these Jeeps? On the Five-OH I've got a set of Dynomax SuperTurbo's and it sounds killer, it's not too loud, and the drone isn't too bad. But with this Jeep, I have no idea. Youtube videos don't help much either in terms of :dung: audio quality.

So, any muffler recommendations that sound good with this engine, and not excessively loud since it's loud enough with the wind anyways :)
How about tubing size? If I recall, with any stock engine on most vehicles the optimum size is 1 pipe size larger...
Just maybe something to give it some more of a growl!

Anyways, I look forward to some input! Thanks guys! :chug:

Mine has Cherry Bombs from the previous owner, I don't really care for it that much. I'm looking to get something different also. I've had 3 stangs; '90 LX 5.0, '92 GT, and '94 GT, all with Flowmasters, so I'm kinda partial to the racket they make. :D:D:D The cherrybomb pops, crackels and all sorts of stuff. I want to run a true dual exhaust vs 2 pipes coming off the manifold to a single in/out muffler. I think that will make my old AMC 304 sound pretty good.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

my 82 I just bought has headers and header mufflers and actually its pretty quiet...but Im thinking that me not figuring out how to get it started has something to do with that:D

You put the key in the ignition and turn the key. Haha. I am going with the Clifford header and a magnaflow muffler. I currently have Doug Thorley headers and a magnaflow on my 89 GW and love the sound from the magnaflow.

So what did you come up with? I'm at the same decision point with my AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l '84 Scrambler. I want to get free-flow and a little better sound, but I do not want resonance. My gal has enough trouble with the hwy noise and bikini top; loud muffler will make her averse.

Also, did you go with dual or single outlet headers. I'm gonna do Headman, but I don't know which style.
