What activates this? Can wire it up so I can manually actuate it?

...after some more reading I see that some say this is to be energized when the engine is running and becomes your throttle stop / idle set. When you shut the engine off it retracts allowing the throttle to close further to prevent run-on / dieseling.

I always thought this was the fast-idle that was kicked in for when AC was running or for whenever you needed a faster idle (air compressor running, battery charging, etc.).

Anyone? :confused::confused::confused:

So you are having some sort of idle issue? If you are concerned with its operation, you might want to check for voltage to it under operation. I am sure it would trace back to a relay.

Nope, I just don't see it doing anything at all. I don't have my AC hooked up, but I'd like to be able to use this to kick on a fast idle if I can.

Dashpod, keeps the engine from stalling when you close the throttle fast.
If that it a wire hook to it then would be used to raise the idle for AC.

So I need to examine its operation a little more closely then, to confirm that it is or is not working. Does it go in and out based on vacuum to a switch somewhere or is it just an on-or-off scenario?

You have stock AC so it would be called a throttle solenoid positioner. Basically what you said, to raise the idle when you turn on the AC. Easy enough to test. Does the idle rise when you turn on the AC? If your engine doesn't stall when you close the throttle plate fast you should be good.

The solenoid is electricly feed

To see if it even works. Run a jumper wire from the POS(+)side of the battery to the wire of the devise. The rod should extend some.
Handy to have working(manually switched)when on a steep up hill where most carbs want to stumble. ;)

AC conversation to onboard air as well.

So if I wanted to be able to manually activate it without the AC on, then just send 12v to that wire?

YUP.........
Like I said-good way to see if it even works.

That's correct

Got it, thank you. LG, I didn't even see your post for some reason I don't know why sorry about that.
