So today we went and traded my lovely fiancee's 01 jetta with 113xxx miles with a few problems and body damage which i was not going to fix on a 98 Jeep grand cherokee with 105k miles. Which i know is trading down but this jeep is in good condition, minus some minor interior things and i mean very minor on the arm rest on both doors but the bodys in great condition and everything else is great! ill get some pictures up later today!

As Barbi wagons go I don't think you could do better. is it the v6 or v8??

OMG, it just occurred to me!! That is a "family car"!

I dunno , a Jetta to a Grand sounds like a trade up to me. :D

X2 on the trade up! I've seen those run 200,000+ and if it's a V6 or I6 they are not that bad on MPG's.:)

To answer all the questions its a V6 4.0 Liter and i think its a trade up to! its got 4 wheel drive, great heater everything works great and no problems, had a 120 point inspection and it has the receipt from the inspection:) and its ten times better versus that crappy car and im thinking next winter its gonna get some KM2's as big as i can go under it and ive talked her into lifting it 2.5inches :D

Checked out a few specs on the ladys Jeep and its got 3.55 to 1 gear ratios, 185 hp/225 ft lbs of torque. I found a 3.5-5 inch lift off a 98 on craigslist for 550 shes all game for lifting it and putting some nice tires under it :D
I got her to go off road a bit today also :) im glad shes got a reliable rig i can work on now none of that foreign bull S***!

You do realize youve created a monster dont you? Now she needs stuff for HER jeep too. :D

Lol i know but i wont be funding HER jeep lol and she told me i can worry about mine first so its fine!:D i just thought 550 for a used 3.5-5 inch lift that is Rubicon Express is pretty good!

So i called my uncle today just to tell him that we got Sami(my fiancee) a 98 jeep grand cherokee and he told me i bought a morphadite piece of S*** because it has a dodge Transmission ,dodge rear end, rambler engine and that was basically his reasoning ha. Hes a chevy guy ;)
So far there has only been two minor problems, the caster or camber alignment is off and tends to wander a little bit, and when your driving the dash lights flicker on and off and if you push on the headlight switch and mess around with it they brighten back up, so im thinking loose connection somewhere or replace the switch. But really what this post is about is,
What are some Pros and Cons of a 98 jeep grand cherokee? if anyone knows? Thanks guys!

Pro;There is plenty of room for groceries and car seats.:D
con; It has no frame.

have the front end aligned before you need the tires replaced.

You crack me up IO and what do you mean by no frame? just no strength? and the right passenger side tire is already screwed up and it needs new tires anyway, so when we get some cash set aside im thinking about going with some KM2 tires i really want to put a 2.5-3 inch lift on it and i had another interview for a second job today so that should be good :D

What he means is there isnt a frame like your Cj. you have a frame and then the body tub gets mounted on the frame. On Cherokees and Grands they utilize whats called a unibody. The frame rails are built right into the body. There is no frame that unbolts.

One more thing, call your uncle for me and tell him I would rather push my jeep than drive his Chevrolet.

~ V6 4.0 Liter

4.0L straight six, not V6

Corey, you have a Grand Cherokee correct? 1993-1998 production Jeep designation ZJ.

Not to be confused with the Jeep Cherokee 1984-2001 Jeep designation XJ

Although very similiar vehicles they are very different. Both share the "C" clip Dana 35 model rear end and Dana model 30 front end. The ZJ and all subsequent model Grand Cherokees used different transmissions and transfer cases than any other avialable Jeep. An XJ lift kit will not work on any model of Grand Cherokee.

The Jeep Cherokee (XJ) and all model Grand Cherokees (ZJ, WJ and WK) all are a unibody design. Meaning that they aren't a body on frame vehicle. The frame and the body are one intergrated unit that get their strength and rigidity from each other.
