I've got a FG tub with no tail gate. Has anyone ever put one in a FG tub? How did it turn out?

I have a glass tub and a glass tailgate on my 8. Turned out fine. No issues at all.

I think the op means he has a tub that wasn't made to have a tail gate and wants to cut the glass to accommodate one.

I'd think it would not be very easy to do, but I don't do glass work.

I put a tailgate on my glass bodied CJ5 .
I was using my jeep for work at the time, and after two days of lifting my tools over the back, I got out the skilsaw and cut the back of the jeep open.

Well, not quite. Previous to this skilsaw extravaganza, I had advertised locally looking for a used metal tailgate. I don't know about your jeep, but my glass body is not exactly the same, and not quite symmetrical. Had I been able to find a "real" tailgate, I'd have cut the body to suit, but as I didn't I just cut the body to the fenders.

I don't have pictures of the glass work I did, but basically you want to make sure the heep isn't going to spread out. I knew mine wouldn't as when I had the body off, I reenforced the bottom of the tub with a big piece of oak. My tub has a plywood core, so I sealed that with epoxy, and then ground back the glass around the cut and used woven cloth around the cut. On the bottom, I put a piece of angle iron the jeep, so I could weld the hinges to it. I just fired up the stick welder and made a tailgate from some rectangular tubing, and some 20 gauge sheet metal. These are the only pics I have of that project, just of the gate, as I didn't find the glassing newsworthy!
Later on, I painted 4 wheel drive on the gate, and no one has ever asked if it was made at home. Hahahaha.

It's a Jeep, you can do anything you want to!
