Hey guys, I found a smoking deal on a CJ5 fiberglass body, only problem is the guy doesn't know if its for pre-75 or 76+ tub:confused:. Going to look at it tomorrow evening, took measurements and everything on my current tub (it's a 1980 CJ5 ), just wondering if anyone has some insight on how I can easily differentiate the tubs / is there a common spot were I could find a part#/part manufacturer # on the fiberglass tub to look it up on the internet to see exactly who makes it and what tub it is??

And most importantly, should I just stay away from it if its a pre-75 tub? I know with some fabrication it'll work on a 76+ frame but is it worth it?

Hope you guys can help!! :chug:

75 and older have all the frame mount locations it a row front to rear. The frame rails are straight.

76+ the rear of the frame widens from 27" to 36"ish

And the floor/Transmission hump is different. The pre-76 floor/hump are flat whereas the 76 and newer are rounded. I have a pre-76 body now sitting on a 76 frame - you drill the tub mounting bolt holes where you need them and make the body mount spacers fit to keep it level front to rear. Your 76 and newer seat brackets won't work in the older tub because the floor is flat - my seats are mounted to the rollcage. If it's a smokin deal I wouldn't walk away from it unless it is coming apart or you plan to keep a stock interior. Everything mounted to the firewall/cowl is different too. If you are building a mostly offroading Jeep or mud runner and plan to modify stuff anyway then go ahead, if stock type build I'd stay away.
