Flat towing equipment

I got an 83 CJ7 all stock. I have read a few things on how to flat tow and feel confertable doing It. My question is about the equipment that I need to get. I know I need to get the tow bar. But ths question I have is whats the safest equipment to get to atach the bar to the CJ7 . I have herd the factory bumpers just arnt strong enough. So should I take it off and atach the bar directaly to the frame. And if so how make a kit for this, or is there a better way of doing this thanks.

Here is a pic of my setup, you might get a lot of opinions on this. For starters you need a vehicle that has enough braking ability to stop that thing. On that flimsey front bumper mine is attached to the frame by "L" brackets not shown. I tow from a set of tow shackles to keep the angle of the tow bar close to a level position.

Been tow'n mine for almost 30 yrs with the OEM bumper.
Just add'd better/bigger bolts(1/2" dia, GD8) and check them often.
Do disconnect the rear D/S at the pinion.

Good Tow Bar longer than bumper is wide.
Tow Bar Mounts.
2 5/16" Safety Chains w/hooks - crossed & long enough to turn without dragging.
Tow Lights or properly wired to towed Jeep tail lights.
Good Hitch on towing vehicle w/Safety Chain Holes. Includes Proper Ball.
Good Trailer Light Plug/Wiring on towing vehicle. Includes Flasher.
Remove DL or Full Float Rear w/Hubs dialed out.
Both Side Mirrors on towing vehicle adjusted for the Jeep.

Just be sure what you're using to tow the jeep, has the brakes to stop a 4K lb trailer with no brakes.

I put the tow bar on the clevis mounts which are 3/4"thick running back along the frame for a foot with lots of big bolts. They poke straight through the 2"x4"' 1/4" tube.

Unlock all 4 hubs and go.

Need a trailer. . . after I win the lottery
