As I continue to poke and prod my CJ, I keep finding mysterious issues. The latest and greatest is a missing flywheel inspection plate/cover. The background that I can gather is the original engine was replaced with a 4.3L V6 out of an 89 Caprice and connected to the original T-5 .

Where can I find a new inspection plate? I've googled what I know (which isn't much) so I was hoping that someone else out there has a similiar set-up and can give me some clues as to where to find it.

Thanks in advance...this forum helps me keep my sanity!

whose bell housing do you have??
You may have to get creative and make a composite cover to match the combination, If you had one each of the two covers involved you could cut and weld or just use the outer outline from one and the inner from the other on a new piece of 16 ga.:D

All you need is a cover to keep debris out. Make one from sheet metal and rivets if you can't find one.

Yeah, I'm pretty much last year's Easter egg in tall weeds with what's on this beast...

I guess I was hoping for one of those, "oh yeah, just get one of those universal jobbers from fix-a-tranny for 20 bucks and you're golden!" responses. Looks like tonight will be documentation night. Flashlight in one hand and notepad with a stubby pencil in the other to jot down all the numbers I can find and start running them through the google.

I've already considered the sheet metal route, but I'll have to wait for my hands to recover from the floorboard fabrication last night since I had to re-make them using tin snips.

Thanks for the quick replies!
