found a willys in the woods!

was hiking over the weekend and I stumbled into this old rig. looks like there is hope for it. pics don't really do it justice but it had very little rust. I called the owner of the land and he said if i wanted it i could go get it. any clue what year this might be?

Looks like a -3A 1948-1953 is close as I go.

yeah its kinda wacky. i'm up to 3 now lol. my favorite part on the willys had got to be the "custom" air cleaner! great for fresh air or boiling eggs for easter!

I can see Baja setting on the shop floor, chewing on a tie rod and questioning his Karma. Things like this don't happen in sunny California.

lol honestly where i'm from, old jeeps are all over! when my grandpa died, he had a CJ8 that he had bought brand new. had less than 30,000 on it and he left it to my uncle that wrapped it around a tree

susie at this rate i'm gonna be running a jeep grave yard soon lol. I talked to the old mans wife about the jeep yesterday. seems he has a bunch of old junk cars he wants rid of. i'll find out bout the willys today and believe me, i'll be there as soon as i get the ok. I'm almost finished stripping down the CJ7 and i'll have a list of parts up for sale or trade soon. any requests?

Everytime I head down that way for my annual motorcycle trip I run into so many properties with old cars and trucks just sitting in the back with grass growing around them. I are so right about just finding vehicles everywhere. I would love to have that type of luck around here.

My Dad lived over in Pender county near Wilmington. About 10 years ago some enterprising bunch of folks rounded up about 90% of the old cars and shipped then to China to be reprocessed into major appliances. even today you very seldom see any "yard art" cars in the county. I guess this was kind of a private enterprise "cash for clunkers".
