I don't think I would be looking for the housing, I would be looking for an axle. Pictures would be a good thing at this point.

Lets start out with basics... Your housing is cracked? In 30+ years of dealing with CJ's - I have never seen that! Sucks though.
Now, why does it keep you from going into 4x4? Shouldn't be related, but I'm betting we aren't getting all the info we need.
