The left front fender on my 82 CJ7 is loose at the front. I tried to tighten the bolts that go inside the grill but they just turn without tightening and you can feel the nut isn't "anchored" inside the grill. I assume there are nuts in there with metal tabs/housing that keep them from turning but haven't investigated further. Can anyone shed some light on the best way to access the nuts and how to fix? Thanks for the help

The cage around the floating nut is rusted or destroyed. Take out the headlight, go in, and use a pair of vice grips to hold the nut. Heat and or oil may help. IF your holes are lining up good, the area can be cleaned and the square nut tach welded back in for re assembly.

Thanks for the tip!
