I have an 86 CJ7 . The passenger side seat sets about 2-3 inches higher than the drivers side. Both seats have the flip and fold riser and a slider on them. Trying not to put any spacers under the drivers side. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

That's quite a bit of difference. I was thinking you might have some aftermarket parts in there. I am assuming you have identical seats also. As I recall there were height differences between oem and Bestop risers and adjusters. When I bought my '86 there was only an adjuster on the drivers side and I am pretty sure that's the way they came from the factory, and I think the heights between the seats were pretty close at the time. I have since changed seats and risers.

You have a passenger side riser that has a slider on it that is not supposed to. In stock form, the passenger side didn't get sliders until the later YJ a and they then used a different riser that was shorter by the thickness of the slider or about an inch and a quarter. So where is the rest of the height difference? If I had to guess, your drivers seat is probably bent back a bit and when pushed to the rear position, it gets lower on the riser (as its sloped).... So from the eye looking at the tops.... Big height difference.

X2. When mine was in its stock situation I had only the slider on the driver's seat and only the flip and fold on the passenger seat. And the passenger seat was just a bit higher. 1 to 1.5 inches would be my guess. I just recently swapped the riser out on the driver's seat to be the flip and fold. It was an OEM part from a better equipped CJ. And it was built a little lower than my old passenger one to accommodate the slider.

By the way, since I do not have the slider on my passenger seat, I bolted it into the floor as far back as I could as I felt like I was eating the windshield when I was in that seat. Not fun but necessary for someone over 6 feet tall IMHO.

Do they match now, if so what brand and where did you get them? I would like to keep the flip and fold and slide on both seats.

I am using Bestop Trailmax II seats, which are quite comfortable along with the Bestop risers and no adjusters to keep the height down. An issue with these seats is that they are well padded, making my 6 ft. frame a close fit, they do also have an adjustable back that helps. There have been a number of threads on this topic in the forum, so you could do a search for that. There a few options for seats that bolt right in and the seats that I have are not on the top of that list unless you are on the short side. By this time I am sure all oem CJ seats are not in the best of condition and in need of replacement. So, a good replacement setup will require some research.
