I've searched the site and the internet itself, and I can't find any source for the fuel gauge signal wire that runs from the center threaded post of a CJ7 sending unit to the gauge itself.

Anybody know where to find one or what obscure name it goes by?

Thanks.

It's finding the push-on connector at the end that is stumping me. It's a little black elbow, almost like a spark plug wire end but in miniature.

Yeah, sometimes you just have to look around for something that will work. Like at an electronic partshouse or auto parts, you might even find something laying around the house. The fuel gauge does require a secure connection though.

Yeah. I'm figuring now that I'll find a little nut and lock washer that'll fit the threads on the post, and I'll use that to hold the signal wire in place. I was just hoping for an easy-off solution since the tank is tucked up in back of my CJ3a .

Thanks.

I think that thread is a 10-32, or it is on my -7, so you could connect an eye terminal to it with a length of wire of about 2 feet from it with a plug attached. Then of course attaching a mating plug to the other end for easy access if you need it.

Great idea for the quick disconnect. That'll solve my problem perfectly.

4x4Dad, as long as you are playing with your fuel level sensor, you could help out the grounding circuit a bit. Run a wire from the battery negative to the sensor ground wire. This will bypass using the poorly conductive frame as copper wire is a much better conductor. Along with that you can run wires to your taillights and see if you get a brighter light from that sensor ground wire. This worked for me and is set up like that permanently.

Torxhead could you look at my guestion under fuel sending unit by Gray CJ7 and post a reply thank you Scott.
