Well as you can probably guess my gas gauge isn't working. I just got this 81 CJ7 about a month ago and have been working on maintanance and cleaning up the PO's mess. Actually most of it is pretty good but his wiring skills leave a lot to be desired.
Anyway since I have owned the jeep the fuel gauge has not worked either does the temp gauge but someone installed an aftermarket temp gauge that works fine. Well today I tore into a problem of a taillight not working , I traced it back to the driver side rear and found that he had wired in a trailer wiring harnes with wire taps and it was a real mess. I got that all sorted out and fixed but in the mess back there I noticed he must have put a new gas tank in and the sending unit wire had been spliced but was all corroded up. I fixed that and now when I turn the key on the gas gauge slowly comes up to 1/4 tank ( it never moved off empty before) but I know the tank is all but full.
Anyone have any ideas?
