I'm getting ready to upsize, from 1/4" to 5/16", my fuel return line before I install my Howell FI and I was wondering about the connection at the fuel sender unit.
Will a rubber 5/16 hose compress down on the 1/4 steel return elbow or should I use a barb fitting 1/4"-5/16".
I will be replicating the 1/4" steel line with 5/16" steel so I will be working with the short hose section above the fuel tank.

Thanks,
Greg

That's what I did, since I didn't want to go into changing out the 1/4" nipple at the send unit/fuel pickup, I just used the existing line and hooked it into the 5/16" tube that I installed, like you are considering doing. I did remove the flare on the 5/16" tube also. I also try to keep the fuel pressure on the low side, like 9-10 psi, so I don't overload that line.
