It should be the same. Larger tanks are usually wider, not deeper I believe.

my fuel gauge says its only half full when i fill it all the way up with fuel

Sounds like you'll need to take some of the bend out of the rod so when the float is at the top of the tank it'll read full. Of course this is hit and miss on how it'll affect how much fuel you have left when it reads empty? Does yours currently read empty when it has a half a tank left? When building my jeep from scratch, I installed a new sender and I run out of gas when it's still reading 1/4 tank. It's on my to do list to add more bend to the rod so it'll read empty when it's empty, but I haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

no it goes to empty but there will still be about 1/4 tank left

I would take a little bend out of the elbow in the rod and try to get it as accurate as possible when reading empty because that's the most important end of the gauge. :D

That might make it read 3/4 when it's full, or maybe it'll read full. A lot of math and geometry comes into play.

Or you could buy the right sending unit for about $60, and not have to worry about it being right. There's enough to worry about 4 wheeling. Gas level shouldn't be one of them.

Do we even know if the sending unit for a 20 gallon is different than for a 15? Aren't the tanks the same height to fit in the skid plate? I thought the 20 gallon tanks just extended further over on the driver side.

I'm running a stock tank and a supposedly stock sender and it isn't right, and will require some tweaking to correct it.

yeah i think ill go with the right sending unit

Two observations. The first is what do they mean by rear mounted when refering to the 15 gallon sending unit? And why does quadratech say it's for 72 to 86 in the description but under fitment it says it's for 76 - 77 ???
