fuel tank

My son has a 84 CJ7 with the factory 20 gal poly tank. The tank has a large crack in it and needs to be replaced. Can't find a replacement tank. Any help would be appreciated.
Also can we use the 15 gal tank and what changes would be needed. Thanks

You should be able to find one at any of the big catalog sites like 4wd or morris ect.
A 15 gal tank should fit but you would need the tank skid to go with it.

I wasnt aware of Jeep ever putting a 20 gal polly tank in CJ's. In my experience they used 15 gal steel tanks.

There are more to choose from but that should give you a start. If it is one of the aftermarket tanks and you wanted to go with a 15 gal you should be able to remove the skid plate extensions and use the current skid plate. In most cases.

My 86 CJ7 has a 20 gallon fuel tank from the factory. In this picture you can see it sticks pretty far down.

I threw away a perfectly good 20 gal tank out of my CJ this summer when I did my propane conversion It even had 15 gallons of old gas in it when I pulled it

Sorry, that's no help. I guess I should have hung on to it for someone who might need one.
