Does anyone have a picture of the front OEM gas tank mounting bracket for a 75 CJ5 with a 15 gal tank?

The bracket I have is bent at an angle at the bottom and I believe it should be flat. I either have the wrong bracket or it's missing a piece. Can't seem to find a picture of it in any of the manuals or online.

Thanks, Bill

BTW the stainless bolts, nuts & washers were not stock.
I think the stock units were carriage bolts.;)

Longhorn - Thanks, but that's not anything like what I've got.

The first pic shows the rear mounts. The brackets hang from the top of the frame and are attached to the tank with a rubber bushing between the tank and the bracket. The next pic shows the mounting point on the front of the tank and the next 2 pics show the bracket that was on it. It bolts up to the cross member above the rear axle. It seems to me that it should be "C" shaped or have another piece so tha it matches up with the flat mount on the tank. It looks to me like the PO just made something work, but I don't know what it really is supposed to look like.

My bad, they made the change in 76'.

Longhorn - Thanks anyway. I appreciate the effort :chug:

CJ - Thanks for the photos! Those are the brackets and mine appear to be the same as yours, but I'm still not clear on how the front bracket works. The bottom of the bracket appears to be angled and the mounting point on the tank is flat. At least that is what I have. I can't tell for sure from your photo.

This photo shows a little better what I'm talking about.

The tank flange (circled in red) should be angled up to match the angle bracket (green line). You can see where it (the tank flange) has been bent down to help get the tank out of the frame.

I'll try and get a shot at lunch.

CJ - Thanks a bunch :notworthy:

Now it makes sense to me. Just wanted to make sure I had the right part!

Thanks again - Bill :chug:

anyone know where i can get my hands on those brackets?

Texas -

I don't know about the brackets for a 75, because I couldn't find them, but the brackets for a 76 are available through most of the usual parts sources if you want new. You could always try a wrecking yard.

Good Luck - Bill
