Pretty much need to know if I can fix this or not? JB Weld maybe? is this Nozzle type thing important? I really kind of don't want to buy a new gas tank cause this is something I don't think anyone will ever ever see considering on how long it took me to wiggle it out of a spot just a little to small for it.

Thanks guys. :chug:

Did it myself.

I flushed the tank with a garden hose for hours and then brazed it back up.

JB Weld is great stuff might be worth a try, but do you really want to pull it again if it doesn't work. . .:D

Jb welding is definitely not the preferred method to fix leaks but it does work. the larger of the 2 hoses is the filler hose and the smaller one is a vent. brazing or welding makes a much better repair but very special attention needs to be given to make sure the tank is completely inert prior to welding :chug:

Flush with water for hours!

Lol, So no to the JB Weld, So on the cleaning out part are we talking like dish soap and a couple of hours of spraying through the filler hole with a little bit of shaking and pouring out repeated method? If any of that made any sense at all. lol

you need to remove the sending unit and more than likely replace it but most definitely replace the screen strainer on the end of the pick up tube.:D

removing the sending unit also lets you see inside the tank.

Yea never really knew there was that much to a gas tank meaning vents and etc, but I will be trying to replace everything but the tank and all the lines for it and of course cleaning it up and trying to weld that little vent thing back on lol
I have no looked that close to it but better to have an answer before I get home then wait on one if I do need one but how does the sending unit come off just twist?

Thanks :chug:

Stick a hose in it and let it run for hours. Until you cannot smell ANY gas fumes. Make sure to properly clean the joint.

You could use plumbing solder, but not as tough as braze. :D

All great suggestions on weldng t. But speaking from experience fill the tank with water when you do weld it. I have welded several tanks and am still alive so it must work. :)

Currently flushing it out it's been about an hour and all my neighbors all curious of what the hell i'm up too but there mainly spanish and don't know English so this is ok lol.

I probably will not weld it myself I can braze and solder and am alright at welding but will probably have a professional do it I would hate to make any unnecessary holes in the tank lol.

Heres some pics of the sending unit and floater? I think it looks pretty damn good plus I put a flashlight in the tank and saw no rust....What else do I need to buy besides sending unit, strainer, and hoses?

Anyone have any valuable opinions about fuel cells? Thinking about getting one and re-routing it all to the back of the jeep?

check the resistance on the sending unit unless you know for a fact it works.

:)Smartest thing you can do..........leave it up to a Professional. Radiator shops normally clean and fix gas tanks.

:D:D:D:D

I will test it however you do that lol youtube is a great place. I decided not to do the fuel cell, ill just stick with my tank unless no one can fix it...I've been denied at two welding shops so far there reasoning being to big of a liability....will check with radiator shops now.

I have a friend that is going to try to weld it back for me. So I decided to mess with my wiring some more.....So here is the another question with my gas and volt gauge out of my jeep in my hand how can I test these to make sure there working properly? Do I hook a wire to my battery and to the sender for the gas or can I use a battery charger or ???? anyways idk need help

thanks guys.:chug:

Welding is now not an option something is coated on the tank that stops anything from welding to it.....Brazing is still an option but I'm looking more into just getting a new tank now.

The thing keeping you from striking an arc is galvanize. To weld it, grind it very lightly to remove said coating. I would get a new tank, leaking gas is never good and I'm not a very good welder...

Yea, we grinded it down and it still did the same thing ehhhh:( So pretty much I was looking at tanks on ebay they have 15 gallon steel tanks for around $100 w/ shipping :chug:

Thanks oh and if anyone decides to make a trip to North Texas and would love to see a little town of Pilot Point and in that town would love to show a guy that blows at wiring let me know.

Thanks again.
